A Tale of Surviving the Great East Japan Earthquake
In early 2010, I was living in the Emerald Triangle area. This is where Cambodia, Laos and Thailand intersect. I was thinking about a change in my line of work or even a semi-retirement at this time. This is when a good friend contacted me. He asked me if I could meet him at Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok.
He lived in Tokyo, Japan, where he was the General Manager of the prestigious Tokyo-American Club and often traveled to Thailand. He didn’t mention anything was serious, only that he was having some tests done. By the time I arrived, he had been admitted to the hospital and had been told it was cancer.
I remained in Bangkok with him while he underwent radiation and chemotherapy treatments. He was anxious to get back to work, but he was going to need help once there…
